Pedalboard 2025
Pedalboard 2025
Here is my new pedalboard build for 2025. This is a brand new GigRig pedalboard that I'm giving a try. So far, I've only had issues with the lid, and you can see that in the video. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I also have a few pictures on my pedalboarding section under media/photos.
Review:
I love the layout of the pedalboard, and it helped to condense my original setup. Very easy to set up. I opted to put the wah plate on the left side, which was very easy to do. I purchased the Cinco Cinco patch bay to go with it, and that fit perfectly. I’m also using the G3S to control everything on the pedalboard. The wah board doesn’t seem to accommodate the Xotic wah pedal the way I was expecting. Luckily, I have the wah adapter board, and that fits perfectly on the wah plate. The shelves are tight and scrape against the sides when you open them. Overall, the board is solid.
I received my board, and the coating was stripped off some of the screw heads, making it look a bit unprofessional. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that.
Here’s my major issue with this pedalboard.
The Lid.
After spending a lot of time assembling the pedalboard, it was time to put the lid on. No instructions were telling me where the boundaries are, so when I put the lid on, I wound up damaging my G3S. If you don’t have your pedals back far enough, the lid will come down on anything on the front of the board that’s not back far enough. When I installed my G3S, I made sure the plugs were against the back riser, you can’t go any further, but it still damaged the G3S. I was told that I’m using the wrong size plugs. I have the G&H solder-free cable kit, similar to the Evidence Audio Patch Cable Kit they offer on the website, but I guess it was designed around that plug only. That should be addressed in the manual. It’s been a struggle to get the lid on without caution. I have a video on YouTube with all the details.
The lid fits, but the problem arises when you try to put it on. You have to start with the lid pushed back enough to slide underneath the back part of the board, and then bring it forward to latch the front. When you have it back, that's when it can come down on anything in the front, causing damage to your gear.
I’m not here to bash this product. I really love what The GigRig has to offer. I’ve been a user for many years, but this issue caused me to damage an expensive piece of gear, not to mention the poor cosmetic issues. I’m still using the pedalboard at home, but I don’t feel safe installing the lid, especially at the end of a gig night. I might be able to put the pedalboard in the optional case that I also invested in.
I'm still having issues with the lid. I have to place it precisely in place, or else the front GigRig G3S gets heavily scratched. It's already happened a few times while trying to figure out the correct way to place the lid. At this point, I'm thinking about going back to my Schmidt Array pedalboard.
