EVH Rig

The EVH Signature was my first ErnieBall Musicman Guitar. What a fantastic instrument, I still think this was Eddie's best signature guitar. It has such a classy look, it also looked great on him as well. This particular one was from the first year they were being made. I think I wore the frets out on this one.

Peavey 5150 EVH model with the block logo. This was also from the first-year release.

Yes, I was heavily influenced by Ed, but I wasn't trying to sound like him. I put my trust in his gear selection hoping that it would allow me to be me. I found out early in the game that if you have anybody's signature gear you are automatically labeled. I was doing a show with the exact gear (Billy Joel tribute) and someone came up to me asking if I would play Eruption or Panama...That was my Homer Simpson moment... D'OH!

From that point on I tried very hard to stay away from signature gear. If I purchased a signature piece it was most likely an unknown artist. Not putting them down in any way but for example, I love the PRS DGT model and most people don't even know what the DGT stands for, so I was safe.

This was fun.
