New Music Brewing! (Hopefully for 2025)

Hello friends,

I have a special release coming soon that is almost finalized. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while and since I have the material available, I figured, why not? The music is not what you are accustomed to hearing from me unless you are a die-hard practice room jams listener, hint. I will be releasing it exclusively on the website soon. Keep checking the website for that to drop.

Anyway, here we go!

I'm feeling inspired lately and want to share my journey to 10 new songs for a new record release (hopefully) in 2025. I completed song one a few days ago. It's one of the most exciting songs I've come up with in a while. The song sounds very upbeat and filled with lots of new guitar riffs. I think it's going to be the first track to hit you on the new record.

I'm trying to find some new guitar sounds and new ways to record this project. Hopefully, I can make it the best-sounding record to date.  I wish I had access to a better studio, but I love doing this on my own at my own pace. I think it's time for a new house. Wishful thinking of course.

I'll keep you posted as I write 10 new songs for a new record.

March 30th update:

Song 2 sounds great! I hope this inspiration continues. This one came out of nowhere, as do all my songs, but this one surprised me with where the inspiration came from. I didn't realize it until I was halfway through the song, but I was glad this one came across my path. I will give you a hint with the song title. Morse Code. This one is very difficult to play due to all the guitar riffs tucked inside. I also came across a new guitar sound that I'm excited to play with. I hope it finds it's way throughout this record.

Waiting for the next song to arrive.

April 13th Update:

Song three started off with three ideas. Should I say I have songs three, four, and five? Well, not really, but maybe. Hahaha. I'm putting the final touches on it, but for the most part, I feel it's complete. I'm also trying to find better mixing and mastering techniques. This means I'm spending more time on the production than I did on my previous releases.

I've also decided to include my song "Maui" on this record since it never had a proper home. I'm going to remix and master it to flow with this production. Now, it has a place to shine.

I'm really happy with the overall sound of these first songs, and I hope that it continues throughout my journey of ten new songs.

Until the next song!

April 27th Update:

Song 4 is complete. I worked hard on this one and hope it doesn't disappoint. TIKI Man brought in a new drum kit that just blew my mind, it was a big inspiration for the direction of this song. Lots of drum movement going on for sure. The bad news is, I have no idea what the next song is. I'm currently blocked out of the riff room, and it's a bit concerning. I like to keep flowing, but I will take what I'm blessed with and wait for the next wave of songs to inspire me. Fingers crossed that it will be soon.

Maybe I should take this opportunity to practice. Hahaha. When I'm recording, I stop playing/practicing the guitar to the point where I get lazy. I need to practice. I need one more idea to complete that other project I mentioned. Hoping that comes about as well.

Ok, I'm going to go practice.

Hope to be back soon.

May 10th update:

Song five is recorded and ready to go. Wahoo, I'm halfway there. It feels like I'm starting over to finish the second half of this recording, but I'm anxious to see what's coming next. I also spent way too much time remixing one of the previous songs. I'm having a rough time getting a great Bass mix, and all my guitar-driven tracks seem to have this fuzziness to them that I can't get out. This digital stuff is hard to smooth out in a mix.

Some teaser shots for you.

I'm getting better at the whole mixing thing. I've been watching way too many videos on this stuff, but it's been fun learning the craft. I hope it shows in the end, we will see.

Well, that's an update on what's happening so far.

See you next tune.

Ohhh, what do we have here?

Details coming soon.

May 18th:

Song 6 is finished and ready to be heard. This one came out of nowhere, and I can thank the Bass for that. It started with a slow groove, but when I was searching for a drum groove, the song took on a completely different funky vibe. I used my Gibson Les Paul for this one, and it brought out some old-school playing out of me. The drums also helped shape the vibe. TIKI Man used the Classic Rock kit two pictures above, he even got that big gong in the tune. I also brought out the wah pedal for some funky rhythm playing that I love to do.

I was also inspired by the Neural DSP Archetype Rabea plugin, especially the guitar synth sounds it offers. I used two patches that became a crucial part of this tune. One sound was used for harmony lines and another for a great synth lead. These plugins are so inspiring to use, and I couldn't make this record without them. This was a fun song to record. Well, all of them have been amazing to record.

Here's an amp that I also used for this recording.

I'll be back!
